Revision

I decided the last verse of "Equality" didn't fit the tone of the other two and so have rewritten it and given the poem a new titles:

Three Hearts

Small and chocolate skinned
running through the woods
hiding from the hound dogs
human stolen goods.

A heart thudding with fear
that freedom won't last long
nor precious jewels of hope
promised in a song.

Star of yellow sewn on
every coat and dress.
Brownshirts on each corner
think they're cleaning up a mess

A heart beating with shame
to be send away from school.
There's no more biking to the park
or swimming in the pool.

Standing tall and marching,
banner waving like a sail.
Men who think their better
want to send her into jail.

 A heart beating, determined
to prove that suffrage is a right.
And no long chains or bullies
will make her cease to fight.

Three hearts tied together
along the river of time
Why is being different
treated as a crime?
